Objectives and Content

Biomaterials is the subject which deals with materials and processing methods used in dentistry to restore function or prevent loss of function. The topic includes relevant aspects of general chemical and physical properties as well as biological considerations, including the interactions between living tissue and artificial materials. Furthermore there will be lectures on formal aspects about the production, selection and use of dental biomaterials.

The course is harmonized with preclinical course in cariology and prosthetics.The program includes lectures, field trips and exercises aimed at a problem-based approach to specific topics.

4-hour written examination

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (corona virus) the scale of pass/fail will be utilized in the written exam in the spring semester of 2021.
