Objectives and Content

The course consists of two parts:

  1. An introduction to the Norwegian health care system, which includes patient contact and communication
  2. The human musculoskeletal system

 

The course consists of the following modules:

 

Due to capacity and infection control measures in the hospitals due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), clinical placement ("tidlig praksis") in hospitals is cancelled in the spring semester of 2021.

Possible alternatives to maintain the learning outcomes are considered. More information will come later, see Mitt UiB.

General competence:

After completing the course, the student will be able to behave in a professional and dignified manner, in practice within the health care system and when conducting examinations of the musculoskeletal system.

Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Participation in courses and essays during the semester is mandatory.

Forms of Assessment

3 hours written exam and oral/practical exam for 12 students on the patient contact module and 24 students for the musculoskeletal system module. The written exam accounts for 75 % of the total grade, the oral/practical exam for 25 %.

 

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (corona virus) the exam will be held as an 3 hours digital home exam, in the spring semester 2021. Students will be excerpted for a mandatory oral conversation in patient contact and communication (PASKON).

Grading Scale

A-F

 

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (corona virus) a pass/fail grading system will be used in the spring semester of 2021.

Course Evaluation

Written evaluation using electronic/digital evaluation tool.

Regular meetings between course coordinators and the student representatives.
