On completion of the course the student should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
The student
- has theoretical knowledge of medical diagnostic ultrasound
- knows the indications and limitations of the three diagnostic procedures
Skills
The student
- may handle the abdominal ultrasound apparatus (VSCAN)
- may estimate bladder volume; identify an empty bladder or volume > 100-150 ml
- may identify a vital intrauterine pregnancy from week 6-7 (1st trimester)
- may determin whether the fetus lays in a head or breech position (3rd trimester)
General competence
The student
- may use this knowledge and skills in treatment of patients while working as general practitioner
