Objectives and Content

The course give an introduction to quantitative chemical analysis of organic and inorganic compounds in common sample matrices like air, water, solid materials and biological tissues. Different steps in the analytical process will be treated, such as sampling, sample preparation, chemical and instrumental analysis, quality assurance, and evaluation and reporting of analytical results. The students will work with both natural and prepared samples in the laboratory course.

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Mandatory presence at the first lecture to keep/get place at the laboratory course. Mandatory presence at the second lecture to get information and instructions about laboratory work and safety.

 

Laboratory course with reports. The grades in analytical results in lab and laboratory journals are valid the 5 following semesters.
The student must complete an HSE-course before the start of this course.

Forms of Assessment

Due to Corona situation the exam spring semester 2020 will be digital Written examination taken home (4,5h).

Approval of the compulsory work is necessary to gain admittance to the written exam.

Basic non-programmable calculator in accordance with faculty regulations

Grading Scale

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
