Objectives and Content:
The object of the course is for the student to become familiar with a given topic in the religious studies.
A supervisor will be assigned by the director of program (fagkoordinator), and based on the fields of interest of the respective student and his/her previous education a theme will be selected for the course.
The supervisor then assigns a reading list; the student reports regularly on the reading process. The course materials are discussed with the supervisor who also decides on the topic for the term paper.

Due to course overlap, students can not take RELV210 as well as RELV310. If combined, the outcome of credits will be reduced with 15 ECTS credits.
Furthermore, course overlap will be considered individually when selecting a theme, as to avoid course overlap with other course units within in the Study of Religion at UiB.
This course is only open for incoming exchange students on Master¿s level at the University of Bergen.
Regular supervision meetings, normally at least three.
Compulsory assignments and attendance are evaluated with ¿approved/not approved.¿
All compulsory requirements must be approved in the semester of instruction in order to receive ¿approved.¿
Compulsory assignments and attendance are valid only for the term in which the paper is handed in.
Form of assessment:
¿ Term paper (5000-6000 words). Papers below or above the required word limit cannot receive a pass.
Reading list of around 1000-1500 pages.
The reading list is published by June 1st for the autumn semester and by December 1st for the spring semester.
