Objectives and Content

Course description

The Human Embryology course contains 10 lectures. The discipline describes the formation of the new human individual from the fertilized egg cell to the delivery. The central aspects in the course are cell division period, embryonic period and foetal period, and how various parts of the body develop and grow in each period. The special emphasis is in the development and developmental defects of the head and neck. Furthermore, some syndromes, which affect face development are presented. The course covers also principles of teratology and gives introduction to molecular embryology.
