Objectives and Content

The course gives an introduction to applied computer security. Well-known attacks on computer systems and their corresponding mitigation techniques are discussed. A special emphasis is placed on authentication systems, in particular public-key infrastructures. Security mechanisms described in wireless communication standards are also considered.

After completing INF143 - Computer security, the student should be able to

Explain attacks on computer systems and discuss mitigation techniques,
Describe and compare different authentication techniques,
Discuss security mechanisms in wireless communication standards.

Forms of Assessment

Submittance of report/essay. Oral exam. If the course has many participants, there can be written exam (three hours).

Grading Scale

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
