After completing the course GEOV113 the student should know how to:
- explain the standard marine seismic equipment and how it works
- describe the most common methods to damp bubble pulses
- explain how ghost and directivity may influence the seismic picture.
- explain vertical and horizontal resolution
- describe absorption and geometrical spreading
- explain SNR, and describe different forms of seismic noise
- describe seismic multiples and diffractions, and how the effect of such events may be reduced through processing
- describe the main steps in seismic processing from common shot gathers to stacked and migrated data.
