It is advised that the students have a knowledge and competence in German equal to level II from Upper Secondary School or corresponding.

Access to the Course

The course is open to all with admission to the University of Bergen.

Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Students are required to attend 75% of the lectures and seminars given in Bergen.

 

During the semester four exercises will be written in grammar and linguistic knowledge, and two shorter exercises in connection to the teaching in written practical German. In addition, each student must do two oral presentations of approximately 10 minutes in connection to the teaching in practical German.


All requirements must be approved by the course instructor in the same semester before it is possible to take the exam.

Obligatory coursework is valid for one semester following the semester of instruction.

Forms of Assessment

Assessment is based on two exam parts:

Exam part 1 is a 4-hour written school exam (with monolingual German-German dictionary).The examniation can be conducted digitally.

Exam part 2 is an oral exam in linguistics and practical German (about 30 minutes) which is held after the written school exam.

One joint grade will be given. When determining the grade exam part 1 counts for 60 %, and part 2 40 %.

There is an exam every semester.
