- the conditions that must be documented in a patient
- criteria for the most common dental diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis, caries)
- relate to the patient in a professional manner and provide information about oral diseases and individual measures to improve the patient's oral health
SkillsStudents will be able to:
- apply the correct procedures for clinical dental hygienists¿ activities (see "Procedure pamphlet")
- use the OPUS patient record system
- record the patients¿ medical history, information on oral health behaviour (diet/eating habits/oral hygiene/smoking, etc.)
- conduct clinical and radiological examination of mucous membranes, teeth and bone
- diagnose defective and intact tooth restorations
- conduct clinical tests such as saliva testing and tooth vitality testing
- take clinical photos, make impressions for and manufacture study models
General competenceThe student will be able to
- relate to the patient in a professional manner, provide information about oral diseases and individual measures to improve the patient's oral health
- recognize that diseases of the oral cavity can often be prevented
- recognize the importance accurate patient records
