Objectives and Content

The subject General Dentistry integrates the teaching of the various clinical disciplines in order to train candidates for a comprehensive patient approach and cooperation within the dental team. The most important subjects in General Dentistry are Cariology, Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Gerodontology. It also includes elements from TMD/Orofacial Pain, Oral Surgery/Oral Medicine, Biomaterials, Orthodontics, Oral Radiology, Odontophobia and Community Dentistry. The need for thorough knowledge of these subjects is motivated by the fact that dental hygienists should be able to provide broad and straightforward information to various categories of adult patients, both as individuals and/or groups.

Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching

Clinical teaching in cooperation with dental students, under the supervision of clinical teachers. Theoretical teaching consists of lectures in General Dentistry, seminars and case presentation in General Dentistry in collaboration with dental students.The students will participate actively with dental students in case presentations of a comprehensively treated and completed case.

4 hour written exam
