Objectives and Content
Health policy and ideological conditions for practicing nursing care will be discussed. Focus will further bee on the concept of caring, different theories of caring, and research on caring.
- Caring on a system level: Formal conditions: Legislation and health care policy
- Caring theories from a feminist, humanistic and health care perspective
- Caring research related to the different perspectives

Learning Outcomes
After completing the program the students should:
- have advanced knowledge and being able to critically analyse political and ideological conditions for practicing professional care
- have advanced knowledge and being able to reflect critically on theories of caring both on individual and system level
- have knowledge about current caring research and being able to evaluate research results critically
- being able to apply theoretical caring perspctives to significant questions within nursing

Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching
- Lectures
- Group work
- Presentations of the theoretical literature and its relation to the planned research thesis oral
- Individual homework
Total: 40 hours per week for 3.5 weeks
