Objectives and Content

The students will learn how X-rays are created, their effects and how X-rays are used for imaging teeth, supporting tissues, jaws and other facial structures and learn how to interpret them.

Learning Outcomes

The students will learn about the physiology of X-rays, radiation biology and radiation hygiene, radiographic devices, digital imaging- and examination techniques, normal and abnormal anatomy, radiographic indications and reliability, and application of radiographic diagnosis in general dental practice.KnowledgeThe students will be able to explain:

General competenceStudents should show responsibility and care for patients and be aware not to expose the patients to more radiation than necessary.

Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching

The course begins with a series of lectures in parallel with clinical seminars.

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Mandatory work in the clinic must be approved before the student can take the exam.
