Objectives and Content

The course give an introduction to quantitative chemical analysis of organic and inorganic compounds in common sample matrices like air, water, solid materials and biological tissues. Different steps in the analytical process will be treated, such as sampling, sample preparation, chemical and instrumental analysis, quality assurance, and evaluation and reporting of analytical results. The students will work with both natural and prepared samples in the laboratory course.

After completing the course KJEM250 the student should be able to:

KJEM110, KJEM131, or equivalent

Recommended Previous Knowledge

 KJEM120, KJEM210, MAT101/MAT111, STAT101/STAT110 or or equivalent

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance

Laboratory course with reports. The grades in analytical results in lab and laboratory journals are valid in 6 following semesters.
The student must participate and pass a course on Health, Environment and Safety.

Forms of Assessment

Written examination (4h).

Examination support materials: Non- programmable calculator, according to model listed in faculty regulations.
Compulsory work must be submitted within the given deadlines for the course. Approval of the compulsory work is necessary to get admittance to the written exam.

 

 

Grading Scale

The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
