After having taken course GEOV219 the students should be able to:
- use basic numerical techniques (interpolation, integration, differentiation)
- apply these numerical techniques to geophysical problems using Matlab
- have a basic understanding of seismic exploration and/or seismological data analysis
- use two or three more advanced numerical techniques, such as finite difference methods, ode solvers and least squares methods in Matlab
- apply these more advanced numerical techniques to geophysical problems in wave propagation and heat flow
- do a small independent research project in computational geophysics (including literature search, programming in matlab, writing a report and giving a presentation)
