The student shall gain knowledge on the structure and function of the cytoskeleton, cell membranes and transport systems, cell cycle, elementary cell physiology, cellular interactions with the extracellular matrix, organ specific cell biology, molecular mechanisms in cancer, virus, cell development and differentiation.
Learning Outcomes
After completion of the course, the student shall have gained basic knowledge and insight into the structure, chemistry, physiology and function of cells, in addition knowledge related to mechanisms of cellular regulation. The student shall also be able to recognise how cells are organised into tissues. Furthermore, the student shall become familiar with laboratory safety regulations, and have obtained an overview concerning experimental methodology in biochemistry and cell biology and have developed practical abilities using appropriate biochemical and molecular biological methodologies.
Access to the Course
Master´s programme in Pharmacy and Master in Pharmacy for pharmacy technicians.
Teaching Methods and Extent of Organized Teaching
Lectures, question times and histology course (approx. 60 hours in total). In addition are organised and partly led colloquium groups. The course is of 7-8 weeks duration.
Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
Participation in the histology course is mandatory. Laboratory journals have to be approved before students can take the final exam. The students are encouraged to attend lectures and colloquium groups.
