Objectives and Content
The students will get a working overview of the laws and regulations affecting the organisation and production of aquaculture in Norway, and insight into the way aquaculture research and production are carried out. The field work will involve excursions to two research stations where students will participate in short experiments, and the practical will involve a working placement at a fishfarm or similar commercial facility. The written reports from these activities will be evaluated. Emphasis will also be placed on the laws concerning the health and welfare of aquatic organisms, such as quality control, harvesting regulations, and the fish disease laws. The regulations regarding vaccination, hygiene, disinfection, health certification and monitoring, as well as experimentation with animals will also be reviewed.
Learning Outcomes
To the give students practical insight into the running of commercial activities in aquaculture and into key methods in aquaculture research, as well as a working knowledge of central aspects of the management, organization and regulation of the aquaculture industry in Norway

Grading Scale
The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
