The study programme is based on a completed bachelor's degree in Psychology. During the first semester, students attend the same teaching and seminars, with focus on relevant perspectives in psychological research, philosophy of science and research methods. Subsequent semesters will give students in-depth studies in the fields of work and organizational psychology or psychological science. During the last year of study, students will be affiliated with one of the Faculty's research groups, and may choose between writing a 60 or 30-credit master's thesis. Those who write a 30-credit master's thesis must take 30 credits of previously-approved elective courses, which may be taken at approved educational institutions abroad. The study programme shall be based on research on and expertise in basic and applied fields in psychology to educate graduates with high competence in psychology, and to provide a foundation for further specialization (PhD and other research in psychology). The study programme provides qualification for different types of work where information competence, critical thinking, dissemination and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are in demand.

Programme option: Work and organizational psychology:
The goal of the programme option is to give you research-based knowledge about how to understand and develop individuals, groups, and organizations in a work-related context. There will be a special focus on the role of agents of change, and on survey and intervention methods for leadership, group, and organizational development.

Programme option: Psychological science
This study programme option is based on a completed bachelor's degree in Psychology or the equivalent for students who want further education in the field. The programme option focuses on research, and provides an in-depth look at knowledge of traditions, innovation, methods, and use of analytical tools in the field. The programme option is based on both basic research and applied research in the field of psychology. Students can choose in-depth studies in behaviour and neuroscience or in general psychology.

Programme option: Behavioral Neuroscience

The programme aims at giving research-based expertise on the relationship of the brain to behavior and cognition. The programme gives understanding of neuroscience in health as well as various clinical and psychiatric conditions, and practical skills in the laboratory work in neuroscience research, including neuroimaging.

Knowledge:

On completion of the degree, the graduate shall:

• Have advanced knowledge in one of the two programme options: work and organizational psychology or psychological science.
• Have in-depth knowledge about the scientific theories and methods in psychology.

Skills:

On completion of the degree, the graduate shall be able to:

• Use his/her knowledge and skills in new areas in order to complete advanced projects and to solve problems.
• Analyse academic issues and research questions relsted to the field of psychology, the history of psychology, disciplinary traditions, the unique characteristics of the field and its place in society.
• Analyse existing theories, methods, and interpretations in the field of psychology and work independently on theoretical and practical problem-solving.
• Apply relevant methods for research and development of the field in an independent manner.
• Analyse and critically assess different sources of information and use them to structure and formulate academically-based arguments.
• Complete an independent, well-defined research or development project under supervision that is in line with effective ethical norms and rules for research.

General competence:

On completion of the degree, the graduate shall be able to:

• Analyse academic, professional and ethical issues related to research in the field of psychology.
• Disseminate his or her own work and, master the terminology used in the field of psychology.
• Communicate academic issues, analyses, and conclusions in the field of psychology to both specialists and the general public.
• Contribute to professional innovation and creative processes.

A completed bachelor's degree in General Psychology or Work and Organizational Psychology or the equivalent. The average grade for courses that provide the foundation for admission must be C or higher. The different programme options can have special admission requirements:
