A candidate who has completed his or her qualifications should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

Knowledge

The candidate

• has a broad natural science background
• has acquired basic knowledge of biology, anatomy, physiology, nutrition and environmental requirements for our most important farmed species
• is able to use the theory of evolution to understand the adaptation of organisms
• is knowledgeable about and has practical experience from a selection of fish farming methods, and has an overview of Norwegian laws and regulations in aquaculture.
• has an overview of international aquaculture activity

Skills

The candidate

• can read and understand scientific work on current issues in biology and aquaculture
• has skills in the scientific method of working that enable the candidate to write analytical reports on topics relevant to fish farming

General competence

The candidate

• is able to solve problems and tasks that require biological insight and knowledge of the aquaculture industry
• has considered reflection about ethical questions about research, practical experience and dissemination.
• can work independently and in a group
• can communicate about the subject both orally and in writing performs scientific work in accordance with good HSE practices
