Objectives and Content
The course consists of two parts:
- An introduction to the Norwegian health care system, which includes patient contact and communication
- The human musculoskeletal system
The course consists of the following modules:
- The human musculoskeletal system
- Examination techniques of the human musculoskeletal l system
- Patient contact and communication
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:
After completing the course, the student will know:
- The core structure of the Norwegian health care system
- The concepts of professionalism and professional maturation, and their relevance to the medical education and the role of the doctor
- The structure and function of the human musculoskeletal system, including surface anatomy
Skills:
After completing the course, the student will able to:
- Understand the division between the primary and specialist health care systems
- Carry out a professional conversation with a patient about disease and health experiences
- Conduct a basic clinical examination of the musculoskeletal system
General competence:
After completing the course, the student will be able to behave in a professional and dignified manner, in practice within the health care system and when conducting examinations of the musculoskeletal system.

Forms of Assessment
Assessment:
The assessment in MED2 consists of 2 parts:
1) A written assignmnent in the Patient Contact module.
2) A 2 hour written exam in the musculoskeletal system module.
Grading: Pass/Fail
Examination Support Material
Simple, bilingual dictionary, that must be reviewable, meaning that one of the languages must be English, or a Scandinavian language.

The reading list will be available by July 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester.
Course Evaluation
Written evaluation using electronic/digital evaluation tool.
Regular meetings between course coordinators and the student representatives.
